ABOUT THE SHOW
Lyrics by Tim Rice
Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber

“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” is based on the Biblical story about a young man, Joseph, with big dreams who is favored by his father, Jacob, and despised by his 11 brothers. Joseph’s father presents him with a beautiful multicolored coat. This, as well as Joseph sharing his dreams of success with his brothers, brings about a tumultuous series of events which leads him to Egypt by way of slavery and prison.
In prison, Joseph meets a baker and butler who have disturbing dreams, which Joseph is able to interpret accurately. Later, when Pharaoh has his own disturbing dreams, Joseph is called on to interpret. Joseph tells him that the dreams mean there will be seven years of plenty, and seven years of famine. This pleases Pharaoh, and he appoints Joseph to be his second in command. Ultimately, Joseph saves Egypt from famine, and is reunited with his father and his brothers, who have realized the error of their ways.
“Joseph” is a marvelous, feel-good musical with varying styles of music and an overtone of the Sixties. With musical numbers including Country Western, French, Calypso, and Elvis-like Rock-n-Roll the show is a crowd pleaser to say the least. The production is suitable for all ages. Ovation is providing quality family entertainment with industry professionals from the staff, crew, actors, and musicians alike.
